I grew up in Knoxville and completed my B.S. in Family Studies from the University of Tennessee in 2000. After completing a year-long graduate internship with the LRBWC, I received a Master’s of Science in Social Work from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in May, 2003. I then took the position of Outreach Coordinator / Social Worker at the Center.

As Outreach Coordinator, I originally focused on the Center’s 37921 Outreach Project, designed to improve health outcomes for women and babies in the 37921 community by increasing access to prenatal care. I began the Communities for Healthy Babies: 37921 Initiative, a community based collaboration with the goal of improving access to prenatal care and creating a model for community change.

As Social Worker, I provide in-house case management and social service referrals, another unique aspect of the Center’s prenatal care. I am also involved in Marketing and Fundraising at the Center, and coordinate special events such as the Annual Walk for Healthy Babies and the upcoming 15 Year Anniversary Celebration.

I am currently the Co-Chair of the Healthy and Smart Starts Task Force and a member of the March of Dimes Program Service Committee and the Knox Area Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Initiative.

I can speak with personal experience as to the kindness and quality of care the Center’s staff provides as I birthed my daughter, Jada, and my son, Silas, at the Center.
