Go to this well-organized and informative site on Images of Women in Ancient Art, set out like a class syllabus with cogent text accompanying the many pictures. The thumbnail shows the Venus of Laussel, circa 20,000-18,000 BCE, in limestone, height 17", found in 1911 in Dordogne, France; now at the Musee d'Aquitaine in Bordeaux.
